Fast processing speed: processing speed up to 0.1 to 0.2µs, small scan cycle. Powerful and complete command set meets complex tasks. There is a memory card (MMC - Eproom flash) to expand memory or back up data.
Communication: S7-400 uses INDUSTRIAL ERTHERNET communication networks for monitoring level, PROFIBUS for field level, AS-I for sensors and actuators, MPI connection between CPU, PG/PC, TD/ devices BIG. Use point-to-point networks or communication buses via integrated interfaces on the field bus using CPU or IM (interface module or FM, CP)
MPI interface: MPI is an interface to integrate PG/PC and HMI systems with SIMATIC S7/C7/WinAC systems, can connect up to 125 MPI points with a transmission speed of up to 187.5Kbit/s. Through MPI, we can transfer data between controllers, which means that one CPU can access many different inputs and outputs of other controllers. In addition, HM is also integrated into the S7-400 operating system and transmits data to operating stations without programming to help control operations through the interface.
PROFIBUS – DP interface: The S7-400 can be connected to the PROFIBUS field bus to easily create distributed programs that help communicate with field devices. The distributed I/O modules set up using STEP7 are similar to the centralized I/O modules, so the S7-400 can be used as master or slave stations.
Shared feature: Monitoring and programming control possible through both interfaces (MPI and PD ). For example, 1 PG device can program and operate multiple CPUs or multiple PG devices can access 1 CPU.
Secondary interface: In addition to MPI and DP interfaces, the S7-400 also has a number of serial ports (PtP-Point to Point), connecting scanners. This is an RS422/RS485 interface allowing a transmission rate of 38.4Kbit/s.
